The EPIC Charity Walk and Treasure Hunt was recently held at Woodland Waters. Walkers braved the wet conditions to walk the 3.5km trail around the picturesque surrounds of Woodland Waters. 

EPIC is an acronym  for the Education Program for Infants and Children Inc. This event helped raise funds for EPIC's excellent work in specialised teaching and therapy programs for young children with developmental disabilities such as Downs Syndrome and Autism. The Central Equity Gr oup ( developer of Woodland Waters) has supported EPIC’s fundraising efforts for 15 years.

Woodland Waters provided the picturesque backdrop for local couple Michael and Rebecca Hill's wedding photographs.  After planning to marry in the Woodland Waters amphitheatre,  wild weather caused a last minute change of plans and a local chapel was found for the ceremony.  We would like to wish the happy couple all the best for the future.

Families had a great day out at the recent Hawkstowe Jazz Festival.  Held on one of the first warm Sundays of the Spring, families and friends brought picnics and settled in for relaxing afternoon.  There were some great stalls selling local wines and crafts and the jazz music played by the variety of musicians kept the crowd entertained

A young family of black swans are delighting Woodland Waters residents, having taken up residence whilst they raise their young cygnets and teach them swim.  The swans are now becoming a regular attraction at Woodland Waters and we hope they will continue to come back every Spring.

Woodland Waters has thrived with the winter rain.  The wetlands plantlife is flourishing and the banks and wetland reeds are now firmly established.  They have also attracted a young family of swans that with the many ducks and other bird life are enjoying the protected waterway and will hopefully be coming back for many years to come.  The 20 Acre Woodlands Conservation Reserve landscaping has now been completed with residents enjoying the meandering paths through the Red Gums, and tranquil park benches to sit and enjoy the woodlands.

   

More than 1000 people attended the first-ever EPIC Fair to be held at Woodland Waters Parkland on Sunday April 13th.  Families enjoyed the stunning surrounds of the parklands and natural reserve as they were entertained by celebrities including actor Todd MacDonald who plays Darren Stark in neighbours, the Australian Youth Band and local musicians.  The Ford performance racing cars were a great favourite and there were also veteran cars, fun rides and a footy challenge.

EPIC is one of Victoria ’s major providers of programs for young children with developmental disabilities (such as Down syndrome and autism). The EPIC Fair is the organisation’s major fundraiser for the year and much needed funds were raised on Sunday to support their work.

Other highlights of the day included an array of stores with bargains to be had at the white elephant store, book store and a charity auction and Central Equity donated a great weekend escape raffle.
