Community news for Woodland Waters

Family Fun at the EPIC Fair at Woodland Waters

More than 1000 people attended the first-ever EPIC Fair to be held at Woodland Waters Parkland on Sunday April 13th.  Families enjoyed the stunning surrounds of the parklands and natural reserve as they were entertained by celebrities including actor Todd MacDonald who plays Darren Stark in neighbours, the Australian Youth Band and local musicians.  The Ford performance racing cars were a great favourite and there were also veteran cars, fun rides and a footy challenge.

EPIC is one of Victoria’s major providers of programs for young children with developmental disabilities (such as Down syndrome and autism). The EPIC Fair is the organisation’s major fundraiser for the year and much needed funds were raised on Sunday to support their work.

Other highlights of the day included an array of stores with bargains to be had at the white elephant store, book store and a charity auction and Central Equity donated a great weekend escape raffle.

Woodland Waters are proud to be a major supporter of EPIC and were delighted by the level of community support we received on the day. We look forward to continuing our support for EPIC into the future.

Woodland Waters EPIC Charity Fun Run a Great Success!

Over a 100 people participated in the first EPIC (Education Program for Infants and Children Inc) Fun Run and Walk held at Woodland Waters on Sunday 18th November.  Runners and walkers alike got some exercise whilst navigating their way around the wetlands, native red gum reserve and expansive parkland and open space of Central Equity’s Woodland Waters Estate.

Husband and wife Martin and Maryanne Murray won trophies for the male and female 8km categories with impressive times of 26.52 and 29.43 minutes respectively.   Four members of the Mill Park Police team won the “Corporate Team” trophy clocking up a great combined time and won tickets to the upcoming Werribee Christmas Polo Match for their efforts.

A great day was had by all and it proved to be a good fundraiser for EPIC’s specialised teaching and therapy program for young children with developmental disabilities and their families.  EPIC’s school is located at RMIT University Campus Bundoora.

Woodland Waters & Central Equity Land would like to thank everyone who helped raise funds for EPIC by participating and/or volunteering on the day. Congratulations to the winners!

With civil works now complete, the final phase of the extensive landscaping of the wetlands and its parkside surrounds are currently being constructed.

In addition to becoming a sanctuary for bird life, and a spectacular feature for residents, the wetlands will also act as a natural storm water filtration system by cleansing the water before it flows into the Plenty River. So the only thing left to do now is wait for more rain!
